01 / THE PROBLEM

Connecting the workflow

Hospital teams need a consistent way to move a patient visit between reception, clinicians, laboratory, pharmacy, and billing while keeping access appropriate to each role.

02 / MY CONTRIBUTION

What I built

I developed a shared Node.js and SQLite application with browser and Electron interfaces, connecting staff accounts and department workflows to the same records.

03 / DESIGN DECISIONS

How the system fits together

  • Use one server and database for web and desktop clients so records stay consistent.
  • Enforce role permissions on the server, including separating clinical and administrative access.
  • Use append-only clinical notes and transactional audit events to preserve a record of changes.
  1. Register patient
  2. Clinical encounter
  3. Lab / pharmacy orders
  4. Billing & closure

04 / CURRENT STATUS

Implemented scope & next steps

Implemented workflow foundation. Production approval, encrypted backup operations, signed desktop distribution, and cross-site data exchange remain release work.
